Our standard

We design and build ndis.page — and the sites and forms we make for clients — to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard widely expected of Australian organisations and especially of those working in the disability sector.

What that means on this site

• Keyboard operable — every link, button, menu and form control works without a mouse, with a visible focus indicator and a “skip to main content” link.
• Screen-reader friendly — semantic headings, landmarks, labelled controls and meaningful link text.
• Readable contrast — text and meaningful UI meet AA contrast ratios; we don’t rely on colour alone to convey meaning.
• Resizable & reflowing — text can be enlarged and the layout reflows without breaking.
• Respects reduced motion — if your system requests reduced motion, animations are switched off.
• Plain language — we write to be understood, and avoid jargon where we can.
• Highly legible type — body text is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible, a typeface designed for low-vision readers.

Honesty about limits

Accessibility is ongoing, not a tick-box. We test with keyboard navigation and screen readers and aim for full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance, but no site is ever perfect for everyone, and automated checks miss things humans catch. If you hit a barrier here, that’s a bug to us — please tell us.
